Après le succès des trois premières représentations, la pièce de théâtre Les Bonnes (The Maids) de Jean Genet revient à Amsterdam le 24 mars, jouée en français avec surtitres en anglais.

After the success of the first three performances, Jean Genet's Les Bonnes are back for several dates in 2024! Next performance is at Nautilus, Zeeburgereiland, Amsterdam on March 24. The play will be surtitled in English.

Claire and Solange are sisters and have been working for years at Madame's house as domestic servants. Feeling harassed by their boss's arrogance, they plan to murder her by pouring gardenal into her lime tree. They plan their murder in a clumsy haste, betraying the vulnerability of their little condition as maids, secretly jealous of Madame. The overly ambiguous relationship between these two sister-friends places them in a situation where the heart is constantly confronting reason.

This fiction, inspired by the famous news item of which the Papin sisters are at the origin, is an opportunity to discover the surprising poetry of Jean Genet, a major figure of French theatre of the 20th century.
