Curious about neurodiversity and interested in meeting like-minded people in a welcoming, sensory-friendly space? Join Neurodivergent Mondays at OBA Next Lab Sluisbuurt on Zeeburgereiland.

These weekly sessions offer a relaxed environment to explore what neurodiversity means to you through conversation, creativity, play, and shared experiences. Throughout the session, a variety of stimming toys and tactile materials are available to support comfort, focus, and sensory grounding. Participants are invited to move, create, rest and explore at their own pace, including experimenting with games and ideas in the Library of the Future.

Together, we explore themes around neurodivergent lived experiences, draw from books and media on neurodiversity, and share topics brought in by participants. Some Mondays feature guest speakers or special Media Nights.

On most Mondays at OBA Next Lab Sluisbuurt, you can:

  1. Help shape the Lab into a more sensory-friendly and inclusive public space.

  2. Explore and express what neurodiversity and neurodivergence may mean to you.

  3. Co-create an evolving exhibition of (neuro)divergent stories, experiences, and objects from Zeeburgereiland.

Neurodivergent Mondays is hosted by Jonathan Evans, a multiply neurodivergent researcher in inclusion and the creative industries at Inholland University of Applied Sciences and OBA Next Lab. The initiative is part of Jonathan’s research on neurodiversity and creativity, in collaboration with the Lectorate Inclusion and the Creative Industries, Sluislab, and OBA Next Lab Sluisbuurt.

The co-created exhibition is developed together with participants and researchers, including Flann Naji, a researcher on neurodiversity also at Inholland University of Applied Sciences who is regularly present and a joint host during the sessions.

The dress code is relaxed. The main language is English, but Dutch is always welcome. Participation is free; sign-up is preferred but not required — you’re also welcome to simply drop in.
